At Artist Project Toronto 2023, a couple and their daughter walked straight into the booth and stood in front of Eloquence, admiring it for a long time. When they finally turned to me, they said they want it in a different size. That was the start of a new commission — and a great connection. Turns out that they too are South African, living in Canada. I couldn’t have been more excited for this commission.
I loved that they knew right away what they wanted, which makes my job much easier. We talked through size, palette, and script direction, and from there the process was easy. They were thrilled with the finished piece (shown in this photo) — and so was I.
